The news came out yesterday, as its official website appeared and annonced on it's front p page (http://gineiden-anime.com/) that a new anime project was to be produced.

This announcement even made the "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu" tag on the japanese twitter appear in the "trend" section!

More information here:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... 017/.91627

As a reminder, it was announced last month that there would be an adaptation of the original series by Viz Media and a translation of the novels by Haikasoru (you can read about these news there: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ime/.89987)

I am really excited to see all this happen! This summer is incredibly rich in great news from the license! The books being translated soon will probably give us a hint of what we can expect from the new anime, so we can indeed say they came in perfectly good timing!

What are your expectations towards the new series? Are you going to hint the books while waiting for it?

I really hope to see something as good as the original at first :P

But in terms of scenario i'd like to see the same historic period but from a different angle. Maybe that will be really hard to write it and maintain it coherent with the current universe but it would really be cool :)

Anything but a reboot of the original.

Does anyone know the exact release date? I heard somewhere that it is fall 2017.

Anyway, I hope an English sub will be available online. Beyond that, I suppose I would like to see it be a bit different than the original, maybe based on the novels more directly.

I haven't heard any news, so I hope the release won't be postponed (or at least not too much)..! I do wonder if the current manga adaptation will influence the new anime.

I'm still thinking it would be based on the Fujisaki manga. But then again, my point of reference is Arslan, which also had modern manga remake followed by anime based on said remake.

No way to know for sure until they ACTUALLY GIVE US NEWS....

Just wanted to note, apparently ahead of the release this Japanese website is selling the Goldenbaum Dynasty flag.

The official website for Production I.G's new anime of Yoshiki Tanaka's epic science fiction novels The Legend of the Galactic Heroes confirmed on Wednesday that the new anime is recasting the main characters Reinhard, Kircheis, and Yang Wen-li. An event will introduce the new voice cast, staff, and special promotional video at Tokyo's Shinjuku Bunka Center on September 20.

Not a tremendous announcement, but the simple fact that something happens is a good news ; we were far from being flooded by news recently ^^'

The new LOGH anime will air in April 2018!
All details here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... es/.121619

Promotional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXEm5aaWHgI

Although all characters seem to be some sort of... clones... I find it pretty nice.
It's painful to say it, but I think that full CG is not a bad choice for this franchise.
