Right now my idea for the format of the RP is that for each continuous interaction between two or more characters we open a new thread/topic, and the setting can be defined in the first post. For example (I'm just making this up):

Quote:
[On the bridge of the Lorelei Fleet Admiral Schmitt has time for a small meal as the ship continues to advance towards the Amlitzer star zone. He contentedly eats the indistinguishable green paste, pretending it's mashed peas, when his aide approaches to inform him that there is an incoming transmission from Fleet Admiral Rationelle.]

He is early..!

[Schmitt sets his lunch aside and opens his personal screen - this message is only a status update and does not need to be broadcast to the crew. He greets Rationelle with a small smile.]

It's unlike you to make such haste. Please don't tell me you have run into trouble?

Would this be a format everybody is comfortable with? Please don't hesitate to suggest alternatives! I assume that much of the action will take place on battleships or in military meetings, but of course there can also be fun outings on planets, private home life threads, etc, particularly if we have civilian characters.

Personally I am used to the [square brackets], but if the majority prefers leaving them out and instead putting speech in "quotation marks" that would work just as well. Also would you prefer it to be in present tense or past tense? My example is probably most like classic LiveJournal RP, but we can use a narration style that's closer to what one would find in a book.

Personally, I leave the brackets out, and use past tense. That has been the case on the other RP sites I have been on.
