The calculation of the power balance percentage is a bit complicated, I don't want to scare Von Ryder again so I won't try to explain it ;)
Basically it's based on the number of ship, class points (CP), experience points (XP) and strategy points (SP).

But the effect of this percentage is quite easy to understand, and that's what I'd like to illustrate today.

We currently have an interesting case.
On this snapshot you can see that I have 54%:
http://chronicles.kosmosinsel.net/snaps ... h47_8.html

It means that the next ship to be destroyed will be one of my enemy with a probability of 54% (and one of mine with a probability of 46%).
So each time a ship is chosen to be destroyed, it's a little bit more likely to be one of Driscoll's ships.

BUT Driscoll has much more ships than I do.
So when one of Driscoll's ship is destroyed, it doesn't affect a lot his percentage.
My percentage is much more affected when I loose a ship.

So with this quite small percentage difference, and this quite big difference in number of ships, I'm almost sure that the situation will slowly turn in Driscoll's favor.

Let's see how it will turn in a few hours!

That's exactly what happened, as you can see snapshot after snapshot:

http://chronicles.kosmosinsel.net/snaps ... h56_8.html
http://chronicles.kosmosinsel.net/snaps ... h22_8.html

I hope this helps to understand how it works!

Thanks for explaining how balance percentage works. I thought I was going to lose that fight when you played a level 9 card against me. I still lost quite a few more ships than you did, though.

Yes indeed, because of the stationed fleet.
On the last snapshot 1h before my withdrawal, we can see that the stationed fleet has already lost 21 ships.
If you add theses losses to mine, it's more than yours.

Another illustration in another battle:
http://chronicles.kosmosinsel.net/snaps ... h49_8.html

Here you can see that FPA has a better percentage AND more ships.
It means that if there are no reinforcements or new strategic card played, it's hopeless for GE.
